The books of the apocrypha, unlike the pseudepigrapha, never claim to be the word of God. Even though they were post-biblical, they were erroneously included in the Old Testament canon. However, each one includes errors, contradictions, and false teachings and was eventually removed from the canon.
Though Jesus and the New Testament writers often quoted the Old Testament canon (and called it Scripture), they never quoted from any of the apocrypha. Neither did the Jewish scholars at Jamnia (A.D. 90), nor the scholarly Church Fathers from A.D. 170-595.
